Communication in the future
Language has been the lone warrior fighting in the battle of sharing knowledge from person to person. It helped us to grow as a species and made us more humane day after day. Let's say for some reason if the language was never invented we could all agree on the fact that we could never get to the era that we are in right now. I would go a little farther and also say that humans would have not known what being conscious is, while there is no language. The language being invented roughly when the modern man had entered the scene it has come a long way from mere animal-like sounds from our feed-hole to a highly structural and complicated dictionary.
Back in 2014 an article named 'Conscious Brain-to-Brain Communication in Humans Using Non-Invasive Technologies'. I've come across this article from the website science daily, as the name suggests it is about the interaction or communication between one person's brain to the other. The researchers are calling this Hyperinteraction. Researchers have studied two subjects, one located in India and other located in France. The person from India was suggested to send greetings as "Hola" and "Ciao" to the recipients at France. The message was sent using a brain-computer interface (BCI) technology wherein the sender sends data through his brain into the computer. Through the internet, the message, encoded in binary, was sent to France.

This encoded message was sent to the receiver's end computer wherein this message is decoded. This message is then sent to the receiver located in France. The subject at the receiver end then found to be understanding the greetings "Hola" and "Ciao" without any language, physical communication, etc.
This, in my opinion, is one of the most significant breakthroughs in communication. This, when developed more, eliminates the necessity of language which had been with us since the origin of modern man. The language being the primary way of communication may no longer be significant. It may become artistic in nature and daily usage of language may become scarce.
When language becomes secondary and trivial and hyperinteraction (Brain to Brain communication) becomes the primary way of interaction it raises a series of complications and ethical questions that have to be answered. If the data is transferred using hyperinteraction, is it possible that thought-hacking may be possible? What I mean by thought-hacking is that a third-person may try to gain the information that is private and in between the sender and receiver. The third-person may hijack the thoughts from the sender and may use it maliciously as the present day hacking.
The extent of information that can be sent and received in between the sender and receiver should be heavily regularised because it is all about the privacy. This becomes more important as the whole thing is directly tied up to the brain. For instance, a website shows only the information that it wants to show to the users. If the user is logged in to the website he may get more access to the website. And there are some places on the website which are not allowed to be visited by anyone else than the website creator. Therefore having these privacy levels are important for the proper functioning of the website. Likewise, it is important that hyperinteraction should be highly controlled and regularised. If this is not the case the extent of ethical dilemmas that we would face is immense. Therefore, there may be organizations and departments made and developed for implementing these regulations the right way to control the flow of information to other people.
Emotions being the prime of all human interactions, is it even necessary to surface our emotions when they are directly sent as brain waves to others? Is it even necessary to laugh? which merely may just have been our social response to something good, if being social doesn't even matter as every brain is connected some way or the other then what is the point of showing happiness if it can be felt inside without anyone noticing visually. People may become stone-faced and there would be no emotions shown on their face as it is unnecessary.
The future as it seems can take any turn and if it turns to take the turn where people do not talk anymore, Humans may fundamentally change for better or worse. The only hope for us is to think that we would turn out well and the human race continues to thrive, though the fundamentals may drastically differ. Else, we'll figure it out.
